How to know where your bus is going.

Due to the wide variance of the age of buses (1978-1997), there are many different destination signs on MTKC's buses.

The first ones I will talk about are called Luminator destination signs. They are found on MTKC's Gillig buses (3180-3595, new colors, tinted windows)and their Ford/Champian Vans. The number 17 is the route number. The words SUNSET HILL are the final destination of the bus. The words via BALLARD are where the bus is going before arriving at the final destination. This sign would correspond to bus 17 TO Sunset Hill VIA Ballard.

This sign is the EXPRESS version of the above sign. The number 17 is the route number of that route. The words SUNSET HILL are the final destination of the bus. The words via EXPRESS mean that this bus is an EXPRESS, limited stops to SUNSET HILL.

The second type of destination sign I will talk about are called TransDot. They are found on MTKC's MAN Articulated Diesel (2000-2201) and Trolley (4000-4045), MAN Americana Standard Coaches (3000-3157), Breda Tunnel Buses (5000-5235), and some Flyers.
Both lines are not displayed at the same time, they flash back and forth. This sign indicates that the bus is route 132. The words To DsMoines indicate the final destination of this bus is DesMoines. On these signs, destinations are often abbriviated. The words DsMoines WY is where the bus is going before reaching the final destination. This sign is the Express variation of Route 132 It says that the bus is going To DsMoines via EXPRESS. Express means that the bus is going to make limited stops.
